Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

WatchMyRide (“we”, “our”, “us”) is a vehicle identity and anonymous communication service operated by Bibin T Philip, an individual developer based in India. The mobile application (“App”) is available on the Google Play Store under the package name in.watchmyride.app.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it. By using the App you agree to this policy.

2. Information we collect

We do not collect payment card details, biometric data, or precise background location. We do not build advertising profiles.

3. How we use your information

• Operate your account and authenticate your identity
• Display your vehicles and their alert histories inside the App
• Deliver anonymous alert messages, private calls and gated emergency info
• Send push notifications when a new alert arrives (only if you grant permission)
• Diagnose technical issues using anonymised diagnostic data

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party.

4. Anonymous scanners

Anyone who scans a WatchMyRide QR code accesses a public web page without creating an account. We do not show their name, email, or phone number to the owner. The message they submit and an anonymous session token (used only to deliver a single reply, or to bridge a masked call) are stored temporarily in our database.

If a scanner chooses to provide contact information in the free-text message field, that text is stored as part of the message and is visible only to the vehicle owner.

5. Data storage and security

Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore database and Firebase Authentication), hosted in the asia-south1 (Mumbai) region. A local copy is maintained on your device using Room (SQLite).

We apply Firebase Security Rules so that only authenticated owners can read their own vehicle and notification records. Communication between the App and our servers uses HTTPS/TLS.

No security measure is perfect. In the event of a breach that affects your personal data we will notify affected users as required by applicable law.

6. Data retention

• Account data — retained until you delete your account
• Vehicle records — retained until you remove the vehicle or delete your account
• Alert messages — retained until you mark them resolved and clear them, or delete your account
• Diagnostic data — retained by Firebase for up to 90 days per their standard policy

WatchMyRide is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Your rights

You may at any time:

• Access your personal data in the App
• Correct inaccurate data by editing your vehicle or account details
• Delete your account and all associated data — see Account & data deletion
• Withdraw notification permission in your device settings

If you are in the European Economic Area, UK, or another jurisdiction with applicable data protection law, you may have additional rights (access, portability, objection, restriction). To exercise any right, contact us and we will respond within 30 days.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top. For significant changes we will notify you via a notice in the App. Continued use of the App after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
